Do I need a credit card to start?
No. Your 14-day trial is completely free and doesn't ask for a card. If you decide not to continue, your workspace simply becomes read-only — you can still export your data.
Does my clients' money go through Studio Slate?
No. Card payments are made on your own Stripe account and paid out to your bank by Stripe. Zelle, Venmo and cash go directly to you as they always have.
Is it only for wedding photographers?
Not at all. Studio Slate works for any studio that books shoots — weddings, portraits and families, events, brand and commercial work, and video productions of every kind.
Can my second shooters and editors use it?
Yes. Invite your team by email and choose their access: admins can see everything, crew members only see the shoots they're assigned to — never prices, invoices or your client list.
Do I need to be technical to set it up?
No. Most studios are set up in an afternoon: add your branding and payment details, link your inquiry page from your website, and you're live. Telegram, AI and SMS each have a “send test” button so you know they work.
How do the AI features work?
AI follow-ups and contract drafting use Claude by Anthropic. You connect your own Anthropic API key, so usage is billed to you directly at Anthropic's rates — typically a few cents per email. Everything else works without it.
Can I get my data out?
Yes, any time. Export your clients and projects as CSV from Settings — including while your workspace is read-only.
